Artist interview with Parjam Parsi with GAA Publishing

Archive

Parjam Parsi was born in Tehran (23/10/1988), currently living in between 2 cities: Yerevan (Armenia) and Tehran(Iran)

He is heavily influenced by German/Russian literature so besides creating art. Parjam also writes short novels and poetry and is a self-taught painter.

In every study, analysing what is standing between myself and thousands of sketches - of an idea in my mind which makes a dialect with the canvas. Creating: thoughts, visions, illusions, damage, sad and suffering experiences, mystic tales, and myth.

These are stories that sometimes gently expose to my frames. To explain what I intend, a transient illusion is normally not sufficient.

I don't want my works to change the method that focuses on what has forgotten parts of my memories. for my paintings, I demand to face emotionally wounded codes sent to my nervous system or a tragic issue to find difficulties relevant or irrelevant inside my mind.

What is so unique about your artwork?

For me imagination and creation (Art) are a strong description of the agony.

How would you describe yourself and your artwork?

about myself, I'm "A dream and an ancient sorrow".

talking about art is meaningless, so many words are out there. but you can't find words that express a specific frame.

What drives you?

Fear of future and anxiety.

What is your definition of art?

it is something quite complex. sometimes it's hard to understand and even distinguish what is art or what is not art.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Dark images, memories, delusions, sad experiences, mystic tales, myth and HISTORY

Where do you see your art in ten years?

I observe then construct and destruct my frames many times. I do this every time I make my work to reach something more dark/destructive than human history.
